the tears are dried
but on my darkest days
they roll down my puffy red cheeks
like a leaky faucet
i try to turn it off
but it's as if the knob has been stripped
bare
it turns in circles
pulled in every direction
but going nowhere
when did i become
a plumbing problem?
i've always known
i was a problem
his problem
their problem
"the trouble with Britiany
is Britiany's always troubled"
they would whisper
while my back was turned
or my eyes were closed
but my ears just couldn't go to sleep
when there was so much to learn
about myself
but now my soul leaks through
my faucet eyes
begging to be
someone's problem
anyone's problem
again
who will hold my broken pieces
in place
when my hands need to catch my tears
i look around
and realize
my broken pieces are floating away
on my salty, leaky rivers
everything i've built tumbles
like Jericho
but it doesn't take
a trumpet blow
to destroy my temple
my faucet is already leaking
